Bulldog Wrestlers Top Lancers in Conference Opener

On Thursday Dec. 5, the PEM wrestling team opened their season with a victory over fellow Three Rivers Conference and Section 1 AA opponent LaCrescent. After losing 6 seniors to graduation last season, LaCrescent’s line-up had many open weights, resulting in a fairly lop-sided affair.

Beginning the night at 106 for the Bulldogs was sophomore Isaac Walch. Walch used and arm-bar to get a first period fall and put the Bulldogs on the board first with a 6-0 lead. At 113 and 126, LaCrescent would get their only two wins of the evening, both by fall in the 3rd period, to take their only lead of the evening at 12-6.

Garrett Olson (11) would get the Bulldogs back to even quickly at 132, taking only :40 seconds to earn a first period fall and tie the team score back up at 12-12. Cooper Hofschulte (11) would continue the momentum at 138 earning a hard fought 9-5 decision and putting the Bulldogs up 15-12. Juniors Kael Lamb, Cael Marx,and Dereck Boyum would all collect forfeits at 145, 152, and 160 to pile up 18 more team points for PEM stretching the lead to 33-12. At 170, senior Joe Stucky would get a fall :17 seconds into the 2nd period for his first victory of the season. Alex Rahman (11) would follow suit at 182 picking up a win by fall in the first period pulling the PEM lead to 45-12. Sophomores Tony Roberton and Cody Schneider would pick up their first career varsity wins by forfeit at 195 and 220 and senior Logan Wingert would collect the final forfeit of the evening to seal the 51 point PEM victory.
