Bulldogs Takedown State Ranked Dover-Eyota

Rahman and Graner Eclipse 100 Wins in Back to Back Nights!

The PEM wrestling regular season ended with a bang this past Thursday and Friday nights.  Not only did PEM bump off the state ranked Eagles; and also had not one but two grapplers earned a very coveted award for career wins - 100!

As goes every dual that PEM has been involved in this season; the Bulldogs found themselves in  tight matches with GMLOS, Dover-Eyota and LARP on both Thursday and Friday nights.  All 4 teams were very equal but it was the concluding match on Thursday night that left fans heading home happy cheering and excited.  With PEM's Alex Bedsted's pin at 215 lbs on Thursday night, the Bulldogs secured a much needed boost and victory over a Dover-Eyota team that had dominated them for the past 5 seasons!  Final score PEM 37 Dover-Eyota 36.

Added Coach Nate Pfeilsticker, "always a fun match with Dover-Eyota.  The 2 teams know each other well through off-season club wrestling and this match didn't disappoint the big crowd here for alumni and teacher appreciation night.  Glad we found the extra point for the win!"

PEM's Carson Rahman found himself eclipsing the century mark as he joins a host of PEM's elite that have surpassed 100 career wins.  Added Coach Bedsted, "Carson has come on so strong this season.  He's putting together a memorable run.  I hope this just catapults him into the section tournament with a boost of confidence!"

PEM was not as fortunate on Friday night in a close dual at Lewiston-Altura high school.  PEM won 6 of 13 matches, but found themselves on the short end with a 33-37 loss to the Screaming Eagles.  Added coach Cam Miller, "tough loss to end the regular season, but very happy for Aiden Graner as he made it 2 for 2 in nights with another PEM wrestler added to the 100 win mark.  Very proud of what he's done and he's only a sophomore!"  Graner pinned his LARP wrestler in their 133 pound match to secure his place among PEM's elite list.  Many wrestlers wait until their senior years to get to 100 wins, but Graner over half way through his sophomore year.  

PEM will now head to the Section 1AA team dual tournament with a 13-11 record, which begins this Thursday.  PEM will wrestle Austin in the first round of the Section tournament.  If PEM wins the first round they will wrestle the host team - #3 Stewartville.  Action starts at 6 PM in Stewartville.
